The Orissa High Court today granted anticipatory bail to senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra in two criminal cases registered against him by Sambalpur police in connection with a police station gherao of December 2010. The bench of Justice S C Parija granted the bail to the MLA ordering that in the event of his surrender, the police shall release him on bail. Mishra had approached the high court earlier this month claiming the police might arrest him in the two cases registered against him allegedly at the behest of some BJD leaders. The Paikamal police of the district and the IIC of neighbouring Jharbadi police station have filed the FIRs against the BJP legislator alleging Mishra had threatened the police while BJP activists had gheraoed the Paikamal police station.
