The Chatuni nullah is the only source of drinking water for both people and livestock in Manduaam village under Balam gram panchayat. Manduaam has been identified as a revenue village but there is no source of drinking water here. Under these circumstances, villagers are forced to walk down to Chatuni nullah for their water requirements round the year.
Admitting that the water results in various diseases, the villagers said they have approached all from ward members to block officials for drinking water provision but in vain.
Last year Naktideul BDO Sudhakar Naik had visited the village and promised that a dug well or a tube-well would be provided to take care of the drinking water needs.This too is yet to see the light of the day.
Naik said since there is no road for the rig machine to reach the village, sinking? tube-well has not been possible. However, he said steps had been initiated to dig a well and hoped that it would solve the problem.
