Despite the High Court directive to reserve result of the no-confidence motion till the next hearing on May 10 on a writ petition filed by Sambalpur Municipal Chairperson Rina Trivedi, it is amply clear that her ouster is only a matter of time.
According to leaked reports, 20 councillors have voted for the motion with only three voting in her favour during the no-confidence motion moved here on Monday morning.
The three councillors who voted for her include Saroj Dalpat (ward no. 13), Sushanta Purohit (ward 14) and Sushanta Pradhan (ward 25).
BJP councillors Rashmita Acharya (ward? 2), Bablu Kumar Dash (ward 11), Diptimayee Barik (ward 4) and Nitu Sahu (ward 26) abstained.
And no sooner the outcome of the no-confidence was leaked, her detractors burst? crackers in front of the municipal office.
The ouster of Trivedi is bound to reflect on the image of Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra whose political acumen had ensured a second term for the BJP in the municipality despite being shrouded in controversies raging from irregularities to nepotism.
Although an attempt was made to dislodge Trivedi on February 9 last year, her mentor Mishra had managed to bail her out by keeping the flock together.
