15 police personnel from the state have been awarded police medals on the occasion of the Independence Day this year. From President’s Police Medals for Gallantry have been awarded to Pradeep Kapur, Additional Director General Of Police , HRPC, Cuttack.

Shri Rabindra Nath Satapathy, Inspector Of Police, Chandrasekharpur PS, BBSR UPD, 6. Shri Nityananda Jena, Inspector, Spl. Branch HDQRS. BBSR, 7. Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Rout, Inspector Of Police Vigilance, O/O SP Vigilance, Cuttack Division, Cuttack, 8. Shri k. Benugopal Acharya, Inspector Of Police Vigilance, O/O SP Vigilance, Cuttack Division, Cuttack, 9. Shri Subhash Chandra Bhatta, Sub Inspector Of Police, Pahal OP, Balianta PS BBSR UPD, 10. Shri Rajendra Kumar Swain, Driver Havildar, Vigilance Sambalpur Division, Sambalpur.
President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service awarded to Shri Sitanshu Kumar Deb, Jailor, Baripada circle Jail and Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service to Shri Tapan Kumar Mohanty, Warder, Baripada Circle Jail.
Several other Odia who are working under central government also selected to get this prestigious medal. They are namely Shri Sankarsan Rout, Junior Intellignece Officer, Grade-I/G, Bhubaneswar, Ministry of Home Affairs got president’s police medal for distinguished service Independence day-2012, Khiroda Kumar Lenka got, Head Constable, CRPF got Police Medal For Gallantry and others.
It should be noted that President’s Police Medals for Gallantry have been awarded to 13 personnel, Police Medals for Gallantry to 113 personnel, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished service to 84 personnel and Police Medals for Meritorious Service have been awarded to 682 personnel.
28 personnel on the occasion of Independence Day, 2012 have also been awarded including President’s Correctional Service Medals for Distinguished Service to Three personnel and Correctional Service Medals for Meritorious Service to 25 personnel.
