The Special Task Force of Crime Branch has taken up probe into the allegation of an illegal kidney transplantation incident which surfaced in Bargarh district. The organ transplant had been carried out in a private hospital of the City more than two years back.
Following an instruction from Additional Director General Bijay Kumar Sharma, a three-member team led by a DSP-ranked officer proceeded to Bargarh to investigate into allegations of Amil Swamy whose kidney was transplanted on Raghav Ram Dora, neighbour of the former.
Earlier, basing on a complaint filed by Swamy, a 37-year-old resident of Talipada in Bargarh town, a police team of Bargarh had initiated investigation into the incident. According to the complaint, Swamy’s kidney was allegedly removed and transplanted on Dora without the former’s knowledge while he was shown as the latter’s brother. The documents were allegedly forged.
The Special Task Force has registered a case under Sections 419/468/471/120(B) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Sections 18/19/20 of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994. While medical examination will be carried out, allegations of fabrication of documents and exchange of money will also be verified. The Special Task Force will also probe if the hospital authorities overlooked the norms and existence of any racket in the organ transplant.
