Bargarh MP in hibernation

Neglect shown to Bargarh Parliamentary constituency by its elected representative, Sanjay Bhoi, is likely to reflect on the Congress’ performance in the Panchayat elections.

Ever since the Congress at the Centre served showcause on 13 party MPs, including Sanjay Bhoi, for remaining absent from the Lok Sabha during voting on the Constitution Amendment Bill on Lokpal, he has reportedly gone into hibernation.

Prior to this, his attendance in the constituency after his win, nearly

three years ago, has been negligible.

Even his trusted aides are unable to answer the voters on his absence.

Last seen a couple of days back in Paikmal, his native village, Bhoi is missing at a time when the farmers need him the most. The MP could have banked on the issues bothering farmers — drought, untimely rain and flood and the latest issue of premature death of paddy saplings. Bhoi has been unable to cash in on the situation or reach out to the ryots whose vote had ensured his win due to caste equation.

His visits to Jharsuguda too remained confined to party meetings. His activities have left the Kulta community, to which he belongs, dejected.

Dubraj Pradhan of Tilia village in Lakhanpur block said he had not seen Bhoi till now since he was elected.

Recalling the contribution of Bhoi’s father late Krupa Sindhu Bhoi, a four-time? Lok Sabha member from Sambalpur, Aniruddha Sahu of Paikmal said that they had access to Bhoi senior even when he was in Delhi, which is not the case with his son and present MP.

Meanwhile, his vanishing from the scene had earned him the sobriquet of ‘Luku Bhoi’ (Bhoi, who is in hiding).
