Six primary class tribal students managed to run away from a Bhubaneswar-based residential school after they were allgedly disallowed to meet their parents, police said today. However, the students were rescued by the GRP at Khetrajpur railway station here, they said. “The children said they ran away from the hostel as they were not allowed to meet their parents,” GRP police in-charge P K Mishra said, adding the GRP had informed the authorities of KIIS school and the parents. The students were identified as Subash Majhi (Class- III), Asis Ekka (Class- V), Sahil Soven (Class-IV), Dayasagar Lakra (Class-IV), Alok Kujur (Class-IV) and Akash Toppo (Class-IV), hailing from Sundergarh district. “I am a Class V student of the school. We left the hostel yesterday afternoon without informing anybody. I wanted to meet my parents. That is why I ran away from the hostel,” said Ashis Ekka, one of the rescued children. Assistant Development Officer of KISS residential school, Bashant Behera said, “We came to know about the incident this morning. We immediately informed the police.” “We have sent a team to Sambalpur to bring back the children. Even the parents of the students have reached Sambalpur,” Mishra said.
